As part of the Photography Competition: Perspectives of Place, we invite artists, technologists, and creatives to participate in a special category exploring the intersection of photography, imagination, and artificial intelligence.

Theme: The Other Side of Now

What if reality isn’t singular? What if countless alternate “nows” are unfolding alongside our own?
This competition challenges you to use generative AI tools to create images that explore parallel presents, alternate realities, and unseen possibilities.

Through the lens of “Perspectives of Place,” this category asks:

  • What might a familiar place look like in a different timeline?
  • How do imagined or speculative environments reflect identity and culture?
  • Can AI help us visualise emotional or symbolic dimensions of place that traditional photography cannot?
  • How would a familiar place evolve if a key historical event had unfolded differently?
  • What might a creative city look like in a future where art and technology are indistinguishable?
  • Can a digital community be visualised as a physical space in an alternate reality?
  • What does home feel like in a world governed by different rules of time, gravity, or emotion?
  • How do personal memories reshape the architecture of imagined spaces?
  • What if your city was built by a different civilisation or culture?
