What does my IELTS score mean?

You will be assessed in the IELTS test on a scale from 0 to 9 for each section of the test, and these scores reflect your English language proficiency.

Your test report form shows your score in each of the four skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking) as well as your overall score. You can earn full marks (eg 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half marks (eg 5.5, 6.5, 7.5) in each section of the exam.

How long is my IELTS score valid?

Whether you take a paper-based or computer-based IELTS test, institutions usually do not accept test report forms that are more than two years old unless you provide evidence that you have maintained or attempted to improve your English since you passed the test. IELTS test partners cannot confirm the validity of test results that are more than two years old.

How can I request an IELTS exam re-mark?

If you do not get the result you expected, you can submit a request to re- mark your exam through the Inquiry on Results (EOR) service and  you can select the sections of the exam that you want to re-mark and you will have to request this from the exam center where you took the exam.

The fee for this service is 450 Qatari Riyals , which you are entitled to refund if your score in any section of the exam increases after re-marking.

You must apply for re-marking no later than six weeks after the test date, regardless of whether you took a paper-based or computer-delivered IELTS test.

You can submit an Enquiry on Results online from the Test Taker Portal. Alternatively, you can download the Enquiry on Results Form from the download section below and submit it to the test centre where you sat the test. Make sure you attach your proof of payment.

It takes two to four weeks to complete the results inquiry process from the date of receiving the application.
