Organised by the British Council and facilitated by Allies and Morrison, the initiative brought young designers from the UK and the Gulf States to explore themes such as accessibility, heritage and inclusivity in urban design. This is the second time the exhibit has been on view; the first occurring at Allies and Morrison’s studios during the London Festival of Architecture.
At the Dubai instalment of the exhibition, a panel discussion was held to debate these ideas in the context of Dubai and the forthcoming Expo 2020. Panellists included Sultan Al Qassemi, co-founder of the Barjeel Art Foundation; the architect Alex Scott Whitby and winner of the 2016 Unlimited Doha Design Prize; architect Sumaya Dabagh, chair of the RIBA Gulf Chapter; Waseem Kotoub, Head of Arts and Creativity for the British Council Qatar and Alastair Donald, Programme Manager of the British Council’s architecture programme in the United Kingdom.
